“I’d say we’d probably get 25 to 40mm,” track manager Jason Kerr said.

“That would definitely push it into the soft range, maybe a (soft) seven to (heavy) eight.

“It (the track rating) all depends on when the rain stops.

“If it stops on Friday night, then it might be all right but if it rains Friday night into Saturday morning, it’s going to be fairly wet.”

Incentivise, who drew barrier 20 but will jump from 18 after scratchings, was $1.90 with TAB before the draw on Wednesday, and subsequently moved out to $2.40.

The ex-Queensland galloper is set to start the shortest-priced Caulfield Cup favourite since Suleiman, who ran third as a $2.50 chance in 1975.

What time does it start?

Race 9 of 10 on the Caulfield card will get underway at 5:15pm AEDT on Saturday, October 16.
